Demons’ baseball errs in opening-day defeat

Errors and hit batters cost Durango 8 runs to the Tigers in a 4-run loss
Durango High School second baseman Hayden Sill kept his eyes on the ball Friday, as he didn’t commit an error – a problem Friday for the Demons – while going 1-for-3 at the plate in the Demons’ home opener against Grand Junction.
Durango High School’s Isiah Mayberry was 1-for-4 at the plate Friday. He reached on an error in the fifth inning – the Demons’ bugaboo Friday in their home opener – but was stranded on second base.
Jeremy Szura stole a base and had four runs batted in during a 3-for-3 day at the plate for Durango High School on Friday against Grand Junction. Despite Szura’s best efforts at the plate, however, the Demons lost 10-6.
The Demons’ Blake Dunlap kept the Grand Junction Tigers on their toes Friday as he went 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles in a 10-6 loss at Walden Memorial Field at DHS.
