A senior night to remember

Backed by Richards’ career night, Skyhawks bring down the No. 2
Christie Groh and the Fort Lewis College seniors had a senior night to remember Saturday night at Whalen Gymnasium. They knocked off previously undefeated No. 2 Colorado Mesa in the regular-season finale. “We just had to focus on the fundamentals,” said Groh, who recorded a double-double in the Skyhawks’ 76-70 upset.
Christie Groh, one of three seniors on the Fort Lewis College women’s basketball roster, had 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds in the Skyhawks’ 76-70 senior-night upset victory over No. 2 Colorado Mesa on Saturday night at Whalen Gymnasium.
FLC senior Ashley Kuchar struggled with her shot on senior night Saturday night at Whalen Gymnasium, but her fellow seniors picked her up – a double-double from Christie Groh and a career night from Erika Richards. “The three of us seniors had a big role on the team this year,” Kuchar said. “We had to score and produce.”
Erika Richards was the star of the show on the Skyhawks’ senior night against previously undefeated No. 2 Colorado Mesa on Saturday night at Whalen Gymnasium. She scored a career-high 37 points in the Skyhawks’ seven-point upset in their regular-season finale. “I just didn’t want to let (the seniors) down and didn’t want to let the rest of the team down. I was just thinking about them and playing for them because I love them, and I didn’t want to lose.”
