Skyhawks climb past the Mountaineers to get to 2

Mary Brinton and the Skyhawks climbed the Mountaineers’ backs for an important 88-61 victory Friday night at Whalen Gymnasium. The win put Fort Lewis College in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with No. 2 Colorado Mesa set to visit on senior night Saturday.
Skylyn Webb, a freshman guard from Delta, and several Skyhawks’ reserves received quality minutes during their 27-point rout over Western State on Friday night at Whalen Gym. “The worst part of being the coach is not being able to play everyone,” FLC women’s basketball head coach Jason Flores said. “A lot of deserving players got to play.”
