Strong La Niña decreases chances for storms in Four Corners

Exceptional drought persists in Southwest Colorado
The Lower Dolores River depends on an above-average winter snowpack for a boating release from McPhee Dam. As of Dec. 7, the Dolores and San Miguel river basins were at 48% of average snowpack.
McPhee Reservoir dropped to nearly the inactive pool level after the irrigation season. The reservoir depends on an average winter snowpack in the Dolores River Basin to fill every year. So far, winter snowpack is tracking at 48% of normal.
