Closures set for bridge on East Lime Creek Road
The Coal Creek Bridge, a single-lane bridge on the East Lime Creek Road (Forest Road 591) will be closed temporarily on two weekdays in mid-September for bridge maintenance and repair.
The East Lime Creek Road is located off of Coalbank Pass north of Durango. The closures are planned during the weeks of Sept. 13 and Sept. 20.
Closures may occur anytime during these weeks.
The road will remain open on either side of the bridge, but traffic will not be able to cross the bridge during the closure hours.
When the bridge is not closed during the project, those tryinsg to pass over the bridge may experience construction delays of up to one hour.
The road will remain open on weekends with no construction.
Signs will be posted at each end of the East Lime Creek Road at the intersections with U.S. Highway 550.
Hikers heading for the Spud Lake Trail can access the trail from the south intersection with U.S. Highway 550.

Seniors Outdoors! announces the following activities:

Animas City Mountain fuels project under way
Mechanical fuels-reduction activities by the Bureau of Land Management are under way near the top of Animas City Mountain.
The project will continue through the fall.
Recreationists may encounter crews shuttling equipment up the mountain during the project. There also may be temporary closures of specific trails in areas where the mechanical mower is operating.
Closure areas will be staggered to offer alternate trails for trail users.
Informational signs and maps will be posted.
A BLM representative will be at the main trailhead or patrolling trails near the project to answer questions.
The existing trail network will not be changed.
Wee Walkabouts scheduled at Durangos Rotary Park
Durango Nature Studies will offer Wee Walkabouts every Tuesday through Oct. 28 at Rotary Park.
A nature studies naturalist will lead children, ages 2-5, and parents on an outdoor outing in the park and laong the River Trail.
The program will run from 10 to 11 a.m.
No reservations necessary. Parents and children will meet at the Rotary Park pavilion.
